1. Introduction
NIEdge is a student-focused educational platform that provides academic resources, study tools, career preparation utilities, and related digital services. We are committed to protecting the privacy of every person who uses the NIEdge platform, regardless of whether they have created an account or are simply browsing as a visitor.
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect about you, the purposes for which we collect and use that information, how we store and protect it, when and with whom we share it, and what rights you have with respect to your own data. We have written this document to be as clear and readable as possible, while remaining comprehensive enough to satisfy our obligations under applicable privacy law.
Please read this Privacy Policy carefully before using NIEdge. By accessing or using the platform in any capacity, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this policy and agree to the practices it describes. If you do not agree with any part of this policy, you should not use the platform.
This Privacy Policy is incorporated by reference into the NIEdge Terms and Conditions and forms part of the overall legal framework governing your use of the platform. In the event of any conflict between this Privacy Policy and the Terms and Conditions, the provisions of this Privacy Policy shall govern with respect to the handling of your personal information.
If you have questions, concerns, or requests relating to this Privacy Policy or how NIEdge handles your personal information, please contact us at niedge.nie@gmail.com. We will make every reasonable effort to respond promptly and to address your concerns adequately.
2. Definitions
The following definitions apply throughout this Privacy Policy. These definitions are intended to provide clarity and precision in how terms are used. Where a term is not defined in this section, it carries its ordinary meaning in the context in which it appears.
"NIEdge," "we," "us," and "our" refer to the NIEdge platform and the team that develops, maintains, and operates it.
"You" and "your" refer to any individual who accesses or uses the NIEdge platform in any capacity, including registered users, visitors, and persons who interact with any feature, content, or service made available through the platform.
"Platform" refers to the NIEdge website, including all pages, features, tools, services, content, and any other functionality accessible via the official NIEdge website or any successor domain operated by NIEdge.
"Personal information" means any information that identifies, relates to, describes, is reasonably capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, to a specific individual. This includes but is not limited to names, email addresses, account credentials, device identifiers, and usage data that can be attributed to a specific person.
"Processing" means any operation performed on personal information, including collection, recording, organisation, storage, retrieval, use, disclosure, transmission, erasure, and destruction, regardless of whether this is done by automated means.
"Third-party service" refers to any external platform, service, tool, or application integrated into or linked from NIEdge that is operated by a company or individual other than NIEdge.
"Account" refers to the user account created when a person registers with NIEdge using either an email-and-password combination or a supported third-party authentication provider.
"Premium services" refers to any feature, content, tool, or service available on NIEdge that requires the payment of a fee or subscription charge in addition to the free tier of the platform.
3. Scope of This Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to all information collected through or in connection with the NIEdge platform. It covers information collected from users who have registered accounts, as well as information passively collected from visitors who browse the platform without an account. It applies to all features and tools currently available on NIEdge, as well as features and tools that may be introduced in the future.
This Privacy Policy does not apply to the privacy practices of third-party services that NIEdge links to or integrates with. Each third-party service operates under its own privacy policy and data protection framework. You are encouraged to review the privacy policies of all third-party services you interact with through or in connection with NIEdge.
The platform is primarily designed for and marketed to students in India, particularly those enrolled in engineering and professional undergraduate programmes. However, the platform is accessible from anywhere, and this Privacy Policy applies to all users regardless of their geographic location.
Where NIEdge's practices in relation to personal information are subject to applicable laws in your jurisdiction, including but not limited to the Information Technology Act, 2000 and its associated rules as applicable in India, we will comply with those requirements. We make no representation that this policy satisfies the requirements of any particular jurisdiction outside India.
4. Information We Collect
NIEdge collects personal information through various means, including information you provide directly when you use the platform, information collected automatically when you access the platform, and information received from third-party authentication providers. The following subsections describe each category in detail.
4.1 Account and Registration Information
When you create an account on NIEdge, we collect the information necessary to establish and maintain your account. This includes your name, your email address, and the authentication credentials associated with the method you choose to register. If you register using Google Sign-In, we receive a subset of your Google profile information, specifically your name and email address, as authorised by you during the sign-in process. If you register using email and password authentication, your password is managed by a secure authentication provider and is not stored by NIEdge in plain text or any recoverable form.
Your account information is used to identify you on the platform, to personalise your experience, to communicate with you about your account, and to verify your identity for purposes of account security and support. You may update your account information at any time from within your account settings.
4.2 Profile Information
You may choose to provide additional information to enhance your NIEdge experience. This may include details such as your college or university, your year of study, your academic branch or specialisation, and other optional details relevant to academic or career preparation tools. This information is provided voluntarily and is used to personalise the content, tools, and recommendations you see on the platform. You are not required to provide this information to use the core features of the platform.
Profile information that you provide is stored and associated with your account. You may update or delete this information through your account settings at any time. Deletion of optional profile information will not affect your ability to use the core features of the platform, though it may reduce the degree of personalisation available.
4.3 Uploaded and Generated Files
Certain features of the NIEdge platform allow you to upload files from your own device or to generate digital documents through platform tools. When you use these features, the files you upload or the outputs generated on your behalf may be stored temporarily or persistently, depending on the nature of the feature and the storage mechanism employed.
Files you upload voluntarily, such as supporting documents provided for use within a specific platform tool, are processed solely for the purpose of delivering the requested service. NIEdge does not analyse, distribute, sell, or otherwise exploit the content of files you upload beyond what is strictly necessary to operate the feature you have accessed.
Documents generated by platform tools and associated with your account are stored to allow you to retrieve and use them in subsequent sessions. The storage duration for such files depends on the feature that generates them. Certain features may retain generated outputs for the duration of your account, while others may generate temporary outputs that are not persistently stored.
You retain full ownership of any original content you create or upload. NIEdge claims no intellectual property rights over documents you submit or create through the platform, except as described in the Terms and Conditions with respect to the limited licence granted for service delivery purposes.
4.4 Payment and Transaction Information
If you purchase any premium feature or digital product through NIEdge, payment processing is handled by a third-party payment gateway provider. NIEdge does not directly collect, process, or store your full payment card details, bank account numbers, or any other sensitive financial credentials. These details are submitted by you directly to the payment gateway and are governed by that provider's security standards and privacy policy.
NIEdge receives from the payment gateway a limited set of transaction data necessary for operational purposes. This includes transaction identifiers, the amount charged, the date and time of the transaction, and the status of the transaction (such as whether it was successful, pending, or failed). This information is retained by NIEdge to confirm and manage access to premium features, to process refund requests, and to maintain an accurate record of purchases for support purposes.
In the event of a payment dispute, a refund request, or a technical issue involving a payment, NIEdge may need to share the relevant transaction identifier and associated metadata with the payment gateway to investigate and resolve the matter. No sensitive financial credentials are involved in this sharing.
4.5 Usage and Analytics Data
NIEdge automatically collects data about how you interact with the platform. This data is collected using analytics tools, including Google Analytics, and through server-side logging. The information collected in this category is generally non-personally identifiable in isolation, but may be associated with your account or a persistent device identifier in certain circumstances.
Usage data collected by NIEdge includes information about the pages you visit, the features you access, the amount of time you spend on different sections of the platform, the sequence in which you navigate between pages, the links you click, the searches you perform, and the actions you take on platform tools. We also collect technical information about your device and browsing environment, including your browser type and version, your operating system, your device category (desktop, mobile, or tablet), your internet service provider, and your approximate geographic location based on your IP address, typically at the country or state level rather than a precise physical location.
We also collect referral information, which indicates the website or source from which you arrived at NIEdge. This helps us understand which platforms and channels are effective in reaching users and allows us to improve our outreach and communications accordingly.
Usage data is used in aggregate to understand how the platform is used as a whole, to identify features that are working well and those that need improvement, to monitor the performance and health of the platform, and to make informed decisions about future development priorities. Where usage data is associated with individual accounts, it may also be used to personalise your experience on the platform.
4.6 Communications and Support Data
When you contact NIEdge through any channel, including by email, through a feedback form available on the platform, or through any other communication mechanism, we retain the content of your communication and your contact details. This information is used to respond to your query, to improve our understanding of how users experience the platform, and to identify recurring issues that may require platform-level changes.
Support communications are retained for as long as is necessary to resolve the query and to maintain an adequate record for reference in the event of future related enquiries. Communications that raise legal or compliance issues may be retained for longer periods as required by applicable law or internal policy.
Feedback submitted through the platform's general feedback mechanism is reviewed and used to guide product improvements. If you choose to include your contact details with feedback, those details will be used only to follow up on the feedback if deemed necessary. Feedback that does not include contact details is treated as anonymous.
4.7 Device and Technical Information
In addition to the usage data described above, NIEdge may collect more granular technical information from your device and browser for purposes of debugging, security monitoring, and performance optimisation. This may include your device's screen resolution, the installed version of your operating system, your browser's language settings, whether your browser has cookies enabled, and similar environmental data. This information is used solely for technical purposes and is not used to build behavioural profiles for marketing or advertising.
5. How We Use Your Information
NIEdge uses the information it collects for a variety of operational, service delivery, and improvement purposes. We process your personal information only where we have a legitimate purpose for doing so and only to the extent necessary for that purpose. The following describes the specific purposes for which we use the personal information we collect.
5.1 Providing and Maintaining the Platform
The primary use of your personal information is to provide you with access to the NIEdge platform and its features. This includes authenticating your identity when you sign in, delivering the content and tools you request, storing your files and preferences, managing your account, and ensuring that the platform functions correctly for your specific configuration and device.
5.2 Personalising Your Experience
We use profile information and usage data to personalise the content, tools, and recommendations you see on the platform. Personalisation may include surfacing study materials relevant to your academic branch or year, suggesting preparation resources based on your activity history, and adjusting the interface to reflect your preferences and settings. Personalisation is intended to make the platform more useful and relevant to your specific academic context.
5.3 Processing Transactions
When you make a purchase on NIEdge, we use your account information and transaction data to confirm the payment, grant access to the purchased feature or content, maintain a record of your purchases, and handle any subsequent queries or issues related to the transaction, including refund requests.
5.4 Communicating with You
NIEdge may send you communications related to your account, such as account confirmation emails, security notifications, and transactional messages related to purchases. We may also communicate with you about platform updates, new features, changes to our legal documents, and other matters of relevance to users of the platform. Where we send communications of a non-transactional nature, we will provide a mechanism for you to opt out of receiving future communications of that type.
5.5 Analytics and Platform Improvement
We analyse usage data in aggregate to understand how the platform is used, which features are most and least popular, where users encounter difficulties, and how the platform can be improved. This analysis informs development decisions, helps us prioritise new features, and allows us to identify and address performance or usability issues.
5.6 Security and Fraud Prevention
We use technical and behavioural information to monitor for unusual activity that may indicate security threats, fraudulent transactions, account takeover attempts, or violations of our Terms and Conditions. Where such activity is detected, we may take action to protect the platform and its users, including temporarily restricting access, requiring additional verification, or permanently suspending accounts found to be engaged in prohibited activity.
5.7 Legal Compliance
NIEdge may process and retain your personal information to the extent required to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to lawful requests from public authorities, to enforce our legal rights, and to cooperate with law enforcement in the investigation of illegal activity. We will notify affected users of legal requests for their data where we are permitted to do so under applicable law.
5.8 Research and Development
Aggregated, de-identified usage data may be used for internal research and development purposes. This includes evaluating the effectiveness of features, testing new approaches to content delivery, and analysing trends in how students use educational technology. This research does not involve the use of personally identifiable information and cannot be used to identify specific individuals.
6. Legal Basis for Processing
NIEdge processes personal information on the following grounds:
- Account creation and authentication — processing is necessary to create and maintain your user account and provide access to the Platform.
- Service delivery — processing is necessary to provide the features and tools you use, including academic resources and career-related tools.
- Security and fraud prevention — processing is necessary to detect, investigate, and prevent unauthorised access, abuse, or illegal activity.
- Legal compliance — processing may be necessary to comply with applicable legal obligations or to respond to lawful requests from authorities.
- Legitimate interests — in limited cases, we may process data based on our legitimate interest in improving and maintaining the Platform, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights.
7. Cookies and Similar Technologies
NIEdge uses cookies and similar browser-based storage technologies to enable certain features of the platform, to remember your preferences, and to collect usage data. This section explains what these technologies are, how we use them, and what controls are available to you.
6.1 What Cookies Are
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser when you visit it. Cookies allow the website to remember information about your visit, such as whether you are signed in, your language preferences, and other settings that affect how the website behaves for you. Cookies can be session cookies, which are erased when you close your browser, or persistent cookies, which remain on your device for a specified period or until you delete them.
6.2 Types of Storage Technologies We Use
NIEdge uses standard browser cookies for session management and authentication state. We also use the browser's Local Storage API to persist certain user preferences across sessions, such as your selected colour theme (light or dark mode) and other interface settings you have configured. Session Storage is used for temporary data that is needed only during a single browsing session and is automatically cleared when the session ends.
We do not use flash cookies, pixel tags embedded in emails, browser fingerprinting, or any other tracking technology beyond standard cookies, Local Storage, and Session Storage as described in this section.
6.3 Analytics Cookies
NIEdge integrates with Google Analytics, which uses its own cookies to collect anonymised usage data. Google Analytics cookies may track your session across multiple pages of the platform and may persist across multiple visits. The data collected by Google Analytics cookies is processed by Google and is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. We do not have direct control over the specific cookies set by Google Analytics, but we configure our use of Google Analytics to exclude the collection of personally identifiable information where this option is available.
You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, which is available from Google and is compatible with most major browsers. Using this add-on will not affect your ability to use NIEdge.
6.4 Your Cookie Choices
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to refuse to accept cookies, to delete cookies that have already been set, and to browse in a private or incognito mode that does not retain cookies after the session ends. Instructions for managing cookies in common browsers are available in the browser's help documentation.
Disabling certain cookies may affect the functionality of the NIEdge platform. In particular, disabling session cookies may prevent you from signing in to your account, as authentication requires a session cookie to maintain your signed-in state. Disabling Local Storage may cause certain preferences, such as your theme selection, to not persist across sessions. We recommend keeping cookies enabled for the NIEdge domain to ensure the best possible experience.
NIEdge does not use cookies for behavioural advertising, retargeting, or for tracking your activity across websites other than NIEdge itself. You will not receive advertisements from third parties as a result of your use of NIEdge.
8. Data Sharing and Disclosure
NIEdge does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We do not share your personal information for the purpose of enabling third-party marketing or advertising. We share your personal information only in the limited circumstances described in this section, and only to the extent necessary for each stated purpose.
7.1 Third-Party Service Providers
NIEdge shares personal information with third-party service providers that assist us in operating the platform. These providers include our authentication service provider (Firebase, operated by Google LLC), our analytics provider (Google Analytics), our cloud storage and database provider (Firebase), and our payment processing provider. Each of these providers receives only the information necessary to perform their specific role in supporting the platform. Our agreements with service providers require them to handle personal information only in accordance with our instructions and in compliance with applicable law.
7.2 Legal Requirements
NIEdge may disclose personal information if required to do so by applicable law, by a court order, or by a lawful request from a government authority or law enforcement agency. We will limit any such disclosure to the minimum amount of information required to comply with the legal obligation. Where we are permitted to do so under applicable law, we will make reasonable efforts to inform affected users of any such legal request prior to disclosure.
7.3 Protection of Rights
NIEdge may disclose personal information where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of NIEdge, its users, or the general public. This may include sharing information with other parties for the purposes of fraud prevention, investigation of suspected illegal activity, or enforcement of our Terms and Conditions.
7.4 Organisational Changes
In the event that NIEdge undergoes a significant organisational change, such as a merger, acquisition, or transfer of ownership, personal information held by NIEdge may be transferred to the successor organisation as part of that transaction. In such circumstances, we will notify affected users through the platform prior to any transfer taking effect, and we will ensure that the successor organisation is bound by privacy commitments no less protective than those set out in this policy.
7.5 With Your Consent
Aside from the circumstances described above, NIEdge will not share your personal information with any third party without your explicit consent. If we wish to share your information for purposes not described in this policy, we will inform you of the proposed sharing, explain the purpose and the recipient, and give you the opportunity to decline before any sharing takes place.
9. Third-Party Services
NIEdge integrates with several third-party services to deliver platform functionality. Each of these services operates under its own privacy policy and data protection framework. This section identifies the primary third-party services currently used by NIEdge and provides a summary of their role in the platform.
8.1 Firebase (Google LLC)
NIEdge uses Firebase, a platform developed and operated by Google LLC, for multiple core platform functions including user authentication, real-time database services, cloud storage, and cloud hosting. Firebase processes personal information on behalf of NIEdge in its capacity as a data processor. When you create an account, sign in to the platform, upload a file, or interact with any data-driven feature, your information is stored within Firebase infrastructure. Firebase's privacy practices are governed by Google's Privacy Policy and the Firebase terms of service. Google LLC is headquartered in the United States, and data stored in Firebase may be processed on servers located in the United States or other countries where Google maintains infrastructure. Google provides appropriate data protection mechanisms for cross-border data transfers.
8.2 Google Analytics
NIEdge uses Google Analytics to collect and analyse usage data. Google Analytics is a web analytics service provided by Google LLC. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect data about how visitors interact with websites. The data collected by Google Analytics is transmitted to and stored on Google's servers. Google uses this data to evaluate your use of the website, to compile reports on website activity for NIEdge, and to provide other services relating to website activity and internet usage. Google's privacy practices in relation to Google Analytics are governed by Google's Privacy Policy, available at policies.google.com/privacy.
8.3 Razorpay
NIEdge uses Razorpay, a payment processing service operated by Razorpay Software Private Limited, to process payments for premium features and digital products. When you make a purchase on NIEdge, you are redirected to Razorpay's payment interface, where you submit your payment details directly to Razorpay. NIEdge does not receive, process, or store your complete card details, UPI credentials, net banking credentials, or any other sensitive financial information. NIEdge receives only transaction confirmation data, as described in Section 4.4 of this policy. Razorpay's data processing practices are governed by Razorpay's Privacy Policy, available on their website.
8.4 Vercel
The NIEdge platform is hosted on Vercel, a cloud hosting and deployment platform. When you access the platform, your requests are processed through Vercel's infrastructure. Vercel may collect server-side logs including your IP address, request timestamps, and technical information about your request as part of standard hosting and content delivery operations. This data is governed by Vercel's Privacy Policy. NIEdge does not have independent control over the server logs maintained by Vercel.
8.5 Future Third-Party Integrations
NIEdge may add integrations with additional third-party services as the platform evolves. When a new third-party integration is added that involves the processing of personal information, this Privacy Policy will be updated to reflect the addition. We will also update the "Last Updated" date on this document whenever a material change of this nature is made. We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed of any changes to our third-party service integrations.
10. Data Retention
NIEdge retains personal information for as long as your account remains active and for as long as is necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. The specific retention periods for different categories of information are described in this section.
10.1 Account Information
Your account information is retained for the entire duration of your account. If you request deletion of your account, we will initiate the deletion process for your core account data, including your name, email address, and authentication credentials, within a reasonable timeframe following your request. In practice, this means that your account data will be scheduled for deletion within 30 business days of your request, although the actual deletion may take additional time to propagate through all systems, particularly where data is stored in backup or archival systems.
9.2 Uploaded Files and Generated Documents
Files you have uploaded to the platform and documents generated by platform tools are retained for as long as they are associated with your active account. When your account is deleted, these files are scheduled for deletion alongside your account data. You may also request deletion of specific files independently of your account, and we will make reasonable efforts to honour such requests where the relevant feature supports individual file deletion.
9.3 Transaction and Payment Records
Transaction records, including payment confirmations and purchase history, are retained for a minimum period necessary to comply with applicable financial record-keeping requirements and for the resolution of disputes. In practice, this means that transaction records are retained for a period of at least three years from the date of the transaction, even if your account is deleted before that period has elapsed.
9.4 Usage and Analytics Data
Aggregated usage data and analytics data that has been de-identified is not subject to the same retention limits as personal information, as it cannot be used to identify specific individuals. This data may be retained indefinitely for platform improvement and research purposes.
9.5 Communications
Support communications and email correspondence are retained for a minimum of two years from the date of the communication. Communications that relate to legal matters, disputes, or compliance issues may be retained for longer periods as required by applicable law or as necessary for the resolution of the relevant matter.
9.6 Exceptions to Deletion
Certain categories of personal information may be retained even after an account deletion request where NIEdge has a legitimate basis for doing so. These include situations where retention is required by applicable law, where retention is necessary to resolve a pending dispute or legal claim, where retention is necessary to enforce our legal rights, or where the data has been anonymised and incorporated into aggregated datasets that cannot be reversed to identify the individual.
11. Security Measures
NIEdge takes the security of your personal information seriously. We implement and maintain a range of technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, destruction, and misuse. However, no security system is impenetrable, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your information in all circumstances.
10.1 Encryption in Transit
All data transmitted between your device and the NIEdge platform is encrypted using HTTPS with TLS (Transport Layer Security). This means that the data exchanged between your browser and our servers cannot be read by third parties who intercept the transmission. We enforce HTTPS across all pages and endpoints of the platform and do not permit unencrypted HTTP connections to any part of the platform that handles user data.
10.2 Authentication Security
User authentication on NIEdge is handled by Firebase Authentication, which is a security-hardened authentication service that implements industry-standard security practices. Passwords managed by Firebase are stored using strong hashing algorithms and are never stored in plain text. Firebase Authentication also includes built-in protections against common authentication attacks such as credential stuffing, brute force attacks, and phishing.
10.3 Access Controls
Access to personal information within NIEdge's backend systems is restricted to the minimum level necessary for operational purposes. Database security rules are configured to ensure that users can only access their own data through the platform's API. Administrative access to backend systems is protected by multi-factor authentication where supported by the hosting and database providers.
11.4 Reporting Security Issues
If you discover a security vulnerability in the NIEdge platform, we encourage you to report it to us promptly at niedge.nie@gmail.com with the subject line "Security Disclosure." If the issue could expose user data, please use "URGENT SECURITY REPORT" as the subject prefix. We take all security reports seriously and will investigate and address validated vulnerabilities on a priority basis. We appreciate the efforts of the security research community and will acknowledge responsible disclosure where possible.
No method of data transmission over the internet and no electronic storage system is completely secure. While NIEdge implements commercially reasonable security measures, we cannot guarantee that your personal information will never be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed as a result of a security breach. In the event of a security incident that affects your personal information, we will notify you in accordance with applicable law.
12. Your Rights and Choices
Subject to applicable law, you have the following rights with respect to the personal information that NIEdge holds about you. We will respond to all valid requests within a reasonable timeframe, typically within 30 business days, and we will not charge a fee for exercising your rights under normal circumstances. In cases where a request is particularly complex or where multiple requests have been submitted, we may require additional time and will notify you accordingly.
11.1 Right of Access
You have the right to request a summary of the personal information that NIEdge holds about you. This includes the categories of information we hold, the purposes for which we process it, the sources from which it was collected, and where it has been shared. To make an access request, please contact us at niedge.nie@gmail.com with the subject line "Data Access Request" and include the email address associated with your account. We may require you to verify your identity before processing your request.
11.2 Right of Correction
If you believe that personal information we hold about you is inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date, you have the right to request that we correct or update it. For information that is directly editable through your account settings, you may correct it yourself without contacting us. For information that you are unable to update yourself, please contact us with the details of the correction you are requesting and we will investigate and make the correction where appropriate.
12.3 Right of Deletion
You have the right to request deletion of your NIEdge account and the personal information associated with it. To request account deletion, please contact us at niedge.nie@gmail.com with the subject line "Account Deletion Request." We will initiate the deletion process upon verification of your identity. We generally process verified deletion requests within 30 business days of receiving sufficient information to identify your account. Note that deletion of your account does not guarantee immediate removal of all associated data, as some data may be retained where we have a legitimate basis for doing so, as described in the Data Retention section of this policy.
11.4 Right of Portability
Where technically feasible, you have the right to request a copy of your personal information in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format. This allows you to transfer your data to another service if you wish to do so. To make a data portability request, please contact us with a description of the information you would like to export, and we will provide it in a suitable format where possible.
11.5 Right to Withdraw Consent
Where we process your personal information on the basis of your consent, you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal. If you withdraw consent for a processing activity that is necessary to provide a specific feature, that feature may no longer be available to you following withdrawal.
11.6 Right to Object
You have the right to object to certain processing activities involving your personal information, particularly where we process your information for purposes of analytics or platform improvement. If you wish to object to any specific processing activity, please contact us with a description of the processing you are objecting to and the reasons for your objection, and we will assess your request in light of applicable law and our legitimate operational interests.
13. Children's Privacy
The NIEdge platform is designed for use by university-level students who are generally 18 years of age or older. The platform is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 13 years of age.
If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without the consent of a parent or guardian, we will take steps to delete that information from our systems as promptly as possible. If you are a parent or guardian and you believe that your child has provided personal information to NIEdge without your consent, please contact us at niedge.nie@gmail.com and we will investigate and take appropriate action.
If you are between 13 and 18 years of age, we encourage you to use the platform with the knowledge and involvement of a parent or guardian, who can help you understand the implications of sharing personal information online. NIEdge does not have specific mechanisms to verify the age of users, and by using the platform you represent that you are at least 13 years of age or that you are using the platform with the consent of a parent or guardian who has reviewed this Privacy Policy.
14. Cross-Border Data Considerations
NIEdge is operated primarily from India and is designed for an audience of students located in India. However, because the platform is hosted on cloud infrastructure and uses third-party services such as Firebase and Google Analytics, your personal information may be stored on or processed by servers located in countries other than India, including the United States and other countries where Google and its affiliates maintain infrastructure.
By using NIEdge, you acknowledge that your personal information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence. The data protection laws of these other countries may differ from those in India or your home country, and may not provide the same level of protection. NIEdge selects service providers that implement appropriate data protection safeguards for cross-border transfers, including standard contractual clauses and other mechanisms approved under applicable law where relevant.
If you have concerns about the cross-border transfer of your personal information, please contact us at niedge.nie@gmail.com and we will provide further information about the safeguards in place.
15. Changes to This Policy
NIEdge may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our data processing practices, updates to applicable law, changes in the services we offer, or changes in our third-party service integrations. We will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document whenever any change is made.
For material changes — those that significantly affect how we collect, use, or share your personal information, or that significantly affect your rights — we will make reasonable efforts to provide you with advance notice through the platform, by email to the address associated with your account, or through other appropriate communication channels.
